2012
The goal of the Lake Minnetonka Youth Fishing League is to have fun and fish! It‘s also an opportunity to learn more about the lake, different fishing techniques, and build relationships with others in the community. You do not need to be an expert angler to participate.
Fishing will take place on Tuesdays from 5-8PM and Saturdays from 8-11 AM beginning on July 17th through August 18th. The league will not cost anything other than boat expenses and any fishing equipment needed. The time you commit is up to you and your schedule. We will keep track of “points” and have an awards ceremony upon completion of the season. Points will be earned by showing up and catching fish.
Here's how it works:
1. Assemble your team – maximum number of anglers is determined by you and your boat capacity. For example: teams may consist of coach/coaches (parent/relative/etc.) + child + child’s friend = team
2. Pick your team name
3. Email me your team name, team members and ages of each child participating
As a coach you will be responsible for communicating with your child’s friend(s), parents, etc. to coordinate fishing, pick up, and cover any liability issues. This is a “participate” at your own risk fishing league this season.
If you want a list of people who are interested but do not have a boat to fish from let me know and I will put you in contact with those interested in fishing. The goal is to get as many fishing as possible and I will do my best to work with you to find a team if you do not have access to a boat. However, there are no guarantees that we will enough space this season.
Below is the schedule. Start forming your team now by getting on the phone with someone you know that has access to a boat. Don’t rule out fishing from a canoe or kayak or from shore to participate. We are very fortunate to have this amazing body of water right in our back yard and the opportunities are endless!
Location: Lake Minnetonka, MN Carson’s Bay Access (meet 15 minutes prior to fishing time)
