Season Finale!

Well, all good things must come to an end!  After sending out an email to some local Dad's and a few posts of Facebook to attract some teams, we wrapped up the first official "Lake Minnetonka Youth Fishing League" season on Saturday.  I want to thank all of the 60+kids, their families, and the "coaches" who brought all of these kids out fishing on a regular basis for past month.  We had anglers come from Mound, Orono, Minnetonka, Deephaven, Excelsior, Michigan (just visiting but fished for an evening), and Maple Lake.  The biggest fish of the season was a 28 inch carp, caught by Adam of the Insta-Gators!  The only specie to evade the youngsters was the elusive muskie, however there were encounters.

Thank you to the Excelsior Brewing Company, (who is looking into brewing root beer so they can continue to support the league) for hosting the awards and picnic get together on Saturday.  Everybody that showed up received a package of Trigger X plastics donated by Rapala.  We raffled off other prizes and rods that were donated by Larry Hanson of Guidemasters/Lake Minnetonka Guides and the Twin Cities Chapter of Muskies Inc.

Congratulations to the Insta-Gators who were the season champs.  They had anglers fish in every one of the events and were the only team to do so!  For their efforts, they walked away with the "Fishtonka Cup", which will be a traveling trophy, much like the Stanley Cup.  We overheard them talking about taking to Lick's Unlimited first to have it filled with ice cream.
